Frustration with photos

About a year ago I got a new iPhone. (No, this is not a sponsored post, or endorsement of their product.) I had an old Blackberry Torch, and although I loved it, there just was not the modern types of apps available, or support available on the Blackberry Torch to meet my changing needs. I hated giving it up, but the charging port wasn’t working right anymore, and there just was no getting around it – I had to get a new phone. My friends were all encouraging me to get the newest iPhone. The reputation for great security convinced me to go with the iPhone instead of an Android. So far, it has been a challenge to learn how to use it, but I seem to be adapting. There is a learning curve, that is for sure!

My biggest frustration is with handling the photos & videos. There have been times when I wanted to email, or text, photos and videos that I had taken, but the file sizes were too large. I found this frustrating! A few times I managed to plug my iPhone into my desktop computer and move the photos to the hard drive of my desktop, which worked pretty well, most of the time. I liked freeing up the space on my phone!

Having said that, last night I realized that there were some photos that I had moved from my phone to my desktop that I would really like to have back on my phone – just for a day or two. I wanted to show the photos to someone that I was going to see today. Darned if I could copy those photos back to my phone! I tried everything I could think of doing, but nothing seemed to work. No, I have not tried contacting any support forum – I didn’t have time for that. So, the person that I wanted to see the photos ended up not getting to see them. Sigh…..

This Glass Keeps Its Cool – and Its Hot

Before I ordered this glass online, I saw a photograph of it, and a description. The explanation that it was double-walled, and insulated, made of a special glass, piqued my interest. The shape of the glass, with the contour that allowed for a hand to wrap around it comfortably, was an additional feature that appealed to me. Ever since the accident I was in several years ago that injured both of my hands, I have found it painful to use my hands to hold things. Maybe this glass would be easier to hold.

Given the option of several different sizes to order, I decided on the 12 ounce size. Most of the glasses in my cupboard are either 6, 8, or 16 ounces, and none of them are usually the “perfect size” for how much I actually want to drink! I thought that a 12 ounce size just might do the trick.

When the box arrived on the porch, I was very excited to open it and check out the glasses. Upon inspection of the outside of the box, I saw that the box mentions that it is oven safe, microwave safe, and freezer safe. The box does not say that it is dishwasher safe! Disappointed, I did some research on Amazon and saw that their descriptions of the glass indicate it is, in fact, dishwasher safe. I wondered why the box does not say that.

The first couple of days I had the glasses, I only used one. The same one, for everything I drank. Cold soda or milk, hot tea, hot chocolate. Never any condensation, never too hot or too cold. And, the glass did seem to keep the cold beverages colder longer than traditional glasses, and my hot beverages hotter longer than traditional mugs. The glass was never too cold, or too hot, to hold comfortably.

I really like how the glass looks. Very exotic! The size is perfect for the portions of drink that I enjoy. I washed the glass by hand for the first three days, and then I decided that I would put it through the dishwasher. I was afraid that it might not survive, but it did. Now I have run it through the dishwasher every time I wash the dishes, and so far the glass has survived just fine.

I noticed some of the reviews on Amazon were great reviews, and some were terrible reviews. Some claimed their glasses chipped, broke, or did not survive washing. I have not had this glass for months, I have only had it a couple of weeks. But, so far, so good. I like it. If someone were to ask me if I would recommend it, my answer would be “yes.” I don’t know where one can buy these locally – shopping options where I live are very limited, as I live in a rural area, and the stores that I would expect to carry it are over an hour’s drive from my house. That is why I order a lot of things online, instead of buying locally.

Mobile Payments and Banking Are Really Convenient

I just got a new iPhone 6 a couple of weeks ago! I resisted getting an iPhone for a very long time, as I loved my Blackberry Torch 9800 that I got several years ago. I loved the tactile, sliding keyboard, and I am uncomfortable with the keyboards that are part of the screen. I don’t want to use a stylus, and my fingers are clumsy when I try to type the keys I often hit the wrong keys!

But I have to admit that I am enjoying the convenience of the Wells Fargo app that lets me deposit checks online. I’ve also started to use the Wal-Mart Savings Catcher app with my iPhone – that is really convenient! I’m starting to learn more about Mobile Payments and Banking, and have learned a great deal from this infographic that I found on the website by Ohio University Online. I thought that maybe if I put it here on my blog, I could reference it easily in the future, and maybe someone else might read it and learn something too!

Which adhesive to use?

Top of shirt
Top of shirt

Recently I ordered a pretty shirt online from Amazon. The bodice of the shirt is covered with embellishments consisting of small shiny discs that I would guess are plastic. When I took the shirt out of the plastic bag it arrived in, many of the little discs fell off of the shirt. Some stayed in the bag, some came out of the bag and dropped all over the floor. Where the little discs used to be on the shirt, are little round dots of the adhesive that failed to hold the discs on. (Photo above of the shirt.)

I complained to the merchant at Amazon, and they are going to send me a replacement (if they can find one that doesn’t shed the embellishments) or a refund. So I expect that will be resolved. However, I am tempted to try to re-glue those little discs to the shirt. My question to you, folks, is, what would you suggest I use to remove the bad dots of glue from the shirt, and what EXACT brand and name of adhesive would you use to try to re-attach these little guys? I have no experience in this, but I’m thinking Arlene’s Fabric Fusion. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, if you have had good luck with an adhesive product in a situation like this!

Innovative products

Every now and then I get an email in my inbox that promotes products, and I usually just move them to the “trash” folder without even looking at them. I don’t know why I decided to look at one of the emails today, but I did, and there was one product listing that caught my attention. There was a picture of a very useful-looking item for the laundry room. Since my laundry room is a very small area, which doubles as a food pantry and “mud room” I decided to click on the picture, to see if there were some laundry room suggestions that I could take advantage of to help me with some space-saving solutions. I never DID find the product that was in the picture, but I did find some interesting products that I checked out. One that I thought was really interesting (and space-saving, for those folks with limited storage space) is this convertible product that can change shapes and perform different functions. It is called a “Revase.” I thought I’d share the YouTube video I found about it with you here today….

Isn’t this pretty cool?

Disclosure: I’m not being compensated for this post in any way, shape or form. I just thought this was cool! If you decide you want to purchase it, (it sells for $24.95 plus shipping) you can go to this link to buy the Revase

I’m thinking about buying this as a gift for some folks I know that lives in a small apartment. I won’t disclose who, but if they read this post, they’ll probably realize that I’m thinking about them!
