For the most part this personal blog has shown the serious side of me, but today I decided to share with you a silly seasonal video I found a few moments ago on YouTube.
It is called Macareindeer, and it is a JibJab video. I hope it brings a smile to your face, if only for a moment. Yes, It is silly. Sometimes we all need to be silly for a while. Embrace the moment, and share the silliness.
My family comes from a very long line of musicians. My father, grandfather, great grandfather, my aunts and uncles, my cousins, my sons – all musicians. Although my sons have stopped playing music (which makes me sad….) If I had room for a piano in my house I would probably have one – I used to play the piano when I was young. Music is in our blood. My mother could sing like an angel; I loved to hear her sing when she was walking around the house, doing the chores that needed to be done.
One of my favorite memories of my musical family is the time when my father’s band was playing at the grand opening celebration of Vienna’s town office back in the early 70’s. The room was very crowded with people that were pigging out on all of the free food. My father was playing an upright bass and they had just finished their first song. The crowd did not acknowledge them in any way whatsoever. My father broke out in a wide grin and said “Let’s wait until the applause dies down before we start our next song!” There was immediate applause from the crowd! My father was awesome!
I love unique music videos. This is one that was brought to my attention today through Facebook. It was posted there by wimp.com. I love the unique way that the musicians are using the piano. I have always been partial to piano music, piano music was in my family for generations. My grandfather used to play the piano in Washington DC for the silent movies! My father and grandfather, and brother Steve were wonderful pianists, and I dearly loved to listen to them play.
When I was younger I used to play the piano, but have not played it for decades because I never had room in my house for a piano, nor the money to buy one. If I had room in my house and budget for a piano, I would have one, and play it. They have all passed away, and every time I hear piano music I think of them all. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed it.
